Galatasaray lifts Turkish Super Lig, as Osimhen shines

Galatasaray have been crowned the 2024/25 Turkish Super Lig champions following a dominant 3-0 victory over Kayserispor.

Goals from Victor Osimhen, Barıs Alper Yılmaz and Fernando Muslera sealed the title for Galatasaray.

Osimhen opened the scoring in the 27th minute with a thunderous header, causing a jubilant roar from the Rams Park.

Just two minutes after, the hosts doubled their lead. Midfielder Lucas Torreira threaded a clever pass into the box, finding Barıs Alper Yılmaz, who calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

The league winners then sealed the victory, courtesy of goalkeeper Muslera’s 87th minute goal from the penalty spot.

The victory marks a monumental milestone for Galatasaray, as they become the first Turkish side awarded five stars, a symbol of their unparalleled dominance in the Super Lig.

The champions now sit atop the table with 89 points, while Fenerbahce trails with 81 points, with two games remaining.

Meanwhile, the victory came few days after the team won the Turkish Cup, as Okan Buruk’s side clinched a domestic double.

Galatasaray have now reinforced their status as Turkey’s most successful club with a record 25 league titles.

Nigerian Victor Osimhen have also been instrumental for the Lions’ domestic success, as he netted 25 league goals, 35 in all campaigns.

The on-loan striker from Napoli is expected to leave after the end of the season. However, a large percentage of fans wants the Nigerian to stay with the Turkish giants.
