Super Eagles’ Ademola Lookman scored a brilliant solo goal in Atalanta’s home victory over Empoli in their Serie A Matchday 34 fixture on Sunday.
After coming on as a substitute to grab a late goal and an assist in Atalanta’s 4-1 win over Florentina in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday, Gian Piero Gasperini handed Lookman a starting role that eventually paid off at the Gewiss Stadium this evening.
Mario Pašalić put the Orobics ahead from the spot in the 42nd minute after VAR adjudged Giuseppe Pezzella to have fouled Bilal Touré in the box.
Six minutes into the second half, Lookman, with an explosive drive took the ball from the halfway line and weathered past the challenge of Bartosz Bereszyński to bury Atalanta’s second with a clinical finish and seal the victory.
The goal makes it two goals and three assists for the Nigerian in his last three games across all competitions.
