Bologna clinched the Coppa Italia trophy after claiming a 1-0 victory over AC Milan, courtesy of Dan Ndoye’s goal.

Featuring in the final for the first time since winning the competition in 1974, Bologna secured their second Coppa title.

Meanwhile, Vincenzo Italiano’s side lost 3-1 in Seria A to Sergio Conceicao’s Milan, just five days. However, the Rossoblu denied the Rossoneri a double victory, at the expense of the Coppa Italia.

Bologna had their goalkeeper to thank for avoiding the worst possible start, as Lukasz Skorupski made a superb double save, sparing Sam Beukema’s blushes, while also stopping Luka Jovic’s follow-up effort.

The Rossoblu then established their authority but could not find the back of the net as the first-half ended goalless.

Bologna eventually found the breakthrough in the 53rd minutes through Ndoye, to take the lead.

The Switzerland attacker collected the ball in the box after Riccardo Orsolini was dispossessed, then drilled a right-footed shot beyond Mike Maignan.

The goal proved costly for Conceicao’s side as they could only pressurise the determined Rossoblu backline, but could not find the equaliser.

Bologna went on to win the game as boss Vincenzo Italiano clinched the first major trophy of his managerial career.

The Coppa Italia winner has also earned the bonus of qualification for next season’s UEFA Europa League and Supercoppa Italiana.
