Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, with medicals scheduled in London on Friday.

SixSports understands that the 27-year-old has been a long-term target for the Gunners. The North London side have then stepped up negotiations after agreeing personal terms with the England international.

Talks between Arsenal and Crystal Palace accelerated in recent days, after hijacking the deal from the hands of fellow North Londoners, Tottenham Hotspur.

Meanwhile, SixSports have earlier written on Spurs stepping up their pursuit of Eze after submitting a bid worth £55 million.

However, SixSports gathered that a fee in the region of £55m plus potential add-ons was agreed with Arsenal. Palace had initially been reluctant to part with their talisman, but Arsenal’s persistence and the player’s desire for Champions League football proved decisive.

Eze enjoyed one of his best Premier League campaigns last season, despite missing a portion of games through injury. His performances has always been one to notice, which also earned him a place in England’s squad for Euro 2024.

For Mikel Arteta, the deal represents a significant reinforcement. Eze, known for his creativity and ball-carrying ability, is expected to become Arsenal’s latest marquee addition of the summer transfer window. His arrival would provide competition for Martin Ødegaard, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, while also easing the creative burden.

Crystal Palace, meanwhile, face the challenge of replacing a player who has been central to their attacking play. The player arrived from Queens Park Rangers in 2020 and has been influential for the Palace’s side.

He helped his side win the FA Cup last season, and also the Community Shield this season. Eze’s departure marks a major sale for the south London club.

Arsenal are expected to officially announce Eze as their player within the next 48 hours. His signing would be one of the standout moves of the Premier League window, underlining Arsenal’s intent to challenge Manchester City and Liverpool for the title in the 2025/26 season.
