Six-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek showcased her resilience once again as she battled past No. 7 seed Jasmine Paolini 7-5, 6-4 to capture her first-ever Cincinnati Open title. The Polish star recovered from a slow start, falling 3-0 behind in the first set before turning the match around in style.

The victory, sealed in one hour and 49 minutes, handed Swiatek her 24th career singles title on the Hologic WTA Tour and her 11th WTA 1000 crown. It was also her fifth straight win over Paolini, maintaining a perfect head-to-head record against the Italian.

By lifting the trophy, Swiatek became the first Polish player in the Open era to win a singles title at the Cincinnati Open. The triumph continues a strong 2025 season, coming just a month after her memorable success at Wimbledon.

Speaking after the match, Swiatek admitted her surprise at the achievement. “I don’t know why I win the tournaments I least expect, but I’m so happy. Thank you to my team for pushing me to adapt on faster courts,” she said.

The win also boosts her confidence heading into the US Open, where she will arrive as the No. 2 seed in the PIF WTA Rankings, surpassing American star Coco Gauff.
