Inter Milan ensured to stay within reach of Serie A leaders, Napoli, with a 1-0 home win over Hellas Verona.

A first half penalty from Kristjan Asllani gave Simone Inzaghi’s side the victory, reducing the gap to three points.

Ahead of the second leg of their Champions League semi-final tie against Barcelona, Inzaghi made 10 changes to their starting lineup.

However, Inter still started strongly and took the lead after just nine minutes. A handball from Nicolas Valentini in the box, allowed Asllani to slot home and giving the Nerazzuris the win at San Siro.

Following the lead, the hosts meanwhile waned as the match went on, creating few chances in the game.

Meanwhile, the Milan side almost got there second in he 44th minute, when Nicola Zalewski’s 30-yard drive hit the roof of the net.

The early goal was however the difference as Inter claimed the win, moving three points behind Napoli, who got a win over Leece earlier on Saturday.

With three games remaining, Inzaghi’s Inter will be hoping for a slip from Napoli, while they maintain win record in all three.

The Nerazzuris will also be facing another tough test as they hosts Barcelona for the UCL second leg, after a crunchy 3-3 draw at Spain.
