Jannik Sinner showcased his title credentials once again at the US Open 2025, powering past Alexander Bublik 6-1, 6-1, 6-1 under the lights of Arthur Ashe Stadium to storm into the semi-finals. The defending champion’s title defence remains firmly on track after one of his most commanding Grand Slam performances to date.
The World No. 1 required just over 90 minutes to dismantle the Kazakh, conceding only three games in a ruthless display. His dominance mirrored his emphatic Roland Garros victory over Jiri Lehecka earlier this season, underlining his ability to produce his best tennis on the biggest stages.
“It’s a very special occasion for us players,” Sinner said after his first Arthur Ashe Stadium night match of the year. “The atmosphere was amazing and I wanted to thank everyone for the support.”
The result sets up a historic all-Italian quarter-final at the US Open 2025, with Sinner facing 10th seed Lorenzo Musetti. Holding a 2-0 ATP Head2Head lead, the champion praised Musetti as “one of the biggest talents we have” and welcomed the surge of Italian tennis.
Sinner also tightened his grip in the battle with Carlos Alcaraz for the No. 1 spot in the PIF ATP Rankings. According to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, he became the youngest man since Rafael Nadal in 2008 to claim 24 major wins in a single season.
“I’m very happy to be back in the semis,” Sinner said. “It’s a great result, but the goal is to keep pushing forward.”
