Manchester United boss Reuben Amorim has shared his thoughts after his side suffered a narrow one-goal defeat to Arsenal in their Premier League opener at Old Trafford.
It was a frustrating evening for the Red Devils, who showed determination and organization throughout the contest but were undone by a decisive first-half strike from Riccardo Calafiori for the visitors. While the result was a setback, Amorim remained calm in his post-match reflections, choosing to focus on the positives.
Speaking to the Manchester United media, Amorim said:
“I think the players gave everything.” “When you face a top team like Arsenal, matches are decided by very small details. We created opportunities and tried to control the game, but in the end, one mistake cost us. That is football at this level.”
The Portuguese manager also highlighted that the performance was more encouraging than the result suggested and insisted his squad will respond strongly.
“It’s the first match of a long season. The spirit was there, the fight was there, and we will improve. This is a group with quality and mentality, and we will grow.”
Amorim also reassured fans that the defeat would not derail United’s ambitions. “We must learn quickly, stay together, and focus on the next game. What matters is how we react, and I’m confident this team will respond.”
The loss means United start their Premier League campaign without points, but Amorim’s measured response reflects a determination to turn frustration into fuel as the season progresses.
