Jannik Sinner continued his dominant run at the US Open 2025, powering past compatriot Lorenzo Musetti 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 in the first-ever all-Italian men’s quarter-final at a Grand Slam. The defending champion needed just over two hours on Arthur Ashe Stadium to book his place in the last four, further cementing his status as the man to beat on hard courts.

Sinner, who dismantled Alexander Bublik in the previous round, extended his winning streak at hard-court majors to 26 matches — equalling Novak Djokovic and Ivan Lendl for the third-longest streak in history. At just 24 years and 18 days, he also became the youngest player to register 25 wins at the majors in a single season, surpassing Mats Wilander’s 1988 milestone.

Reflecting on the clash, Sinner praised Musetti while highlighting his own sharp start. “We know each other very well. Obviously during the match you put friendship aside, but after it’s always fine. From my point of view, it was a great performance, very solid,” said the world No.1.

The Italian star now holds a 36-4 record this season and sits one win away from reaching 300 career victories. He is chasing a fifth Grand Slam crown and second straight title in New York, having already lifted trophies at the Australian Open and Wimbledon this year.

Next up is Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, one of the few players with a winning record (2-1) over Sinner. However, Sinner crushed him in Cincinnati last month, dropping just two games in a dominant quarter-final display.
