Argentine Security Minister Patricia Bullrich has stated that about 15,000 Argentine football fans will be denied access to the US by June. The minister said the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires has been notified to deny these fans access to America before the Club World Cup. The tournament, hosted across the United States this summer, will feature Argentine powerhouses River Plate and Boca Juniors.
Bullrich presented the list on Monday, about a month before the expanded 32-team tournament begins on June 14th. “This is extremely important for us, ensuring that no violent individual with a history of crimes in Argentine stadiums can attend this event,” she told reporters.
The list was generated using the Tribuna Segura (“Safer Stands”) program, a government tool that identifies individuals banned from Argentine stadiums. Bullrich stated the program has monitored over 4 million people across 1,328 matches, leading to the detection of 1,166 people with arrest warrants and over 40 entry restriction orders.
The Club World Cup, running until July 13th, is considered a preparatory event for U.S. cities hosting the 2026 Men’s World Cup. River Plate will play group stage matches on the West Coast at Lumen Field in Seattle and the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, facing Urawa Red Diamonds, Monterrey, and Inter Milan. 1 Boca Juniors, one of Diego Maradona’s former clubs, will compete at Hard Rock Stadium near Miami and Geodis Park in Nashville, playing against Bayern Munich, Auckland City, and Benfica.
