Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has hinted at Liverpool as a possible winner for the EPL after his side were held by Arsenal at the Etihad on Sunday evening.
Liverpool is now the favourite to win the Premier League, according to Pep Guardiola, due to the comeback win of the Reds over Brighton 2-1 on Sunday.
Liverpool now sits two points clear of Arsenal at the top of the table, while City sits a further point behind in the third position.
Guardiola believes Liverpool has a significant lead in their pursuit of the English Premier League with nine games left, as he acknowledges that his team has allowed control of the race to slip from their grasp. However, they believe they are currently third on the line.
Asked if he thinks Liverpool are the favourites to win the title, Guardiola agreed, telling: “They are in first position. They are at the top of the league so that is how it is. There are still nine games to go so we will see what happens.”
He added in a press conference: “Arsenal are the second favourites, we are the third. Whoever is top is favourite. It was in our hands. Now it’s not.”
When City plays Aston Villa on Wednesday, who are five points behind them in fourth place, they will be hoping to avoid making another mistake. Liverpool will play Sheffield United on Thursday, while Arsenal will travel to Brighton the same evening.
