From April 16–19, 2024, clubs with the seventh through tenth-highest winning percentages in each conference will compete in the SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament. Teams that finish seventh and eighth in their respective conferences for the 2024 NBA Playoffs will be chosen by the SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament.
The teams who place seventh through tenth in the standings will advance to the Play-In Tournament, while the teams that place 1-6 in each conference’s standings are assured a position in the playoffs. The seventh and eighth playoff seeds are up for grabs between these two teams.
Here’s a summary of how it functions:
The No. 7 team in each league will play the No. 8 team on Tuesday, April 16. The victors guarantee themselves a seventh-round playoff seed. On April 19, the losers will have another opportunity to secure a playoff spot.
The No. 9 team in each conference’s rankings will play the No. 10 team on Wednesday, April 17. On April 19, the victors will go to the Play-In Tournament’s final round. The defeated parties are eliminated.
The victors of the No. 9 vs. No. 10 showdown will host the losers of the No. 7 vs. No. 8 clash on Friday, April 19. The champions guarantee their conference’s eighth seed in the NBA playoffs. The losing groups are eliminated.
All six Play-In Tournament games will be televised by TNT and ESPN together. When everything is finalised, the broadcast schedule and game will be revealed.
